Shrewsbury Borough, Monmouth County
Shrewsbury Borough is a town of about 4,200 people covering roughly 2.2 square miles between Red Bank and Eatontown, bordered by Little Silver, Oceanport, Tinton Falls, and the tiny Shrewsbury Township. It was set off from Shrewsbury Township in 1926, on land that was part of the 1665 Navesink Patent. Route 35 (Broad Street) is the main road, County Route 520 runs along the northern edge, and the nearest train stop is Little Silver station. The 2020 census counted about 1,500 housing units, with very low vacancy.
The Shrewsbury Historic District, centered on Broad Street and Sycamore Avenue, was listed on the National Register in 1978 and includes the Allen House and the Wardell House. Older homes near the historic crossroads may need careful repairs and can draw extra scrutiny when exterior changes are planned. We buy older Shrewsbury houses as they stand.
Only about 3.5 percent of the borough's housing units were vacant in 2020, and the homeowner vacancy rate was just 1.3 percent. Houses do not come up often, but buyers in a tight market still expect updated homes. If yours needs work, we can buy it as-is rather than have you renovate to compete.
The borough split from Shrewsbury Township in 1926, one of dozens of towns carved from that original colonial township. Today the much smaller township sits next door as its own municipality. Old deeds, tax records, and mailing addresses sometimes mix the two up, which can slow a title search. We sort out the records as part of our cash purchase.

Questions from Shrewsbury Borough sellers
No. They are separate municipalities with separate tax offices. We buy homes in both, and we confirm which one your property is in during title work.
Yes. We buy older and historic homes for cash as-is, so you do not need to make repairs or updates first.
In New Jersey, an inherited house is sold through the estate, so the executor or court-appointed administrator signs the sale. We talk with each heir separately and privately, so no one has to negotiate as a group, and we'll walk you through getting an administrator appointed if that hasn't happened yet.
Thirty days is typical, and clean files can move faster. If you need more time, we'll write the date you want into the contract.
