Rahway, Union County
Rahway is a city in southern Union County, about 15 miles southwest of Manhattan, bordered by Clark, Linden, and Woodbridge Township. The Rahway River runs through town, and Rahway River Park, shared with Clark, sits along its banks. Incorporated in 1858, the city has been home to Merck since 1903, and Merck finished moving its global headquarters back to Rahway in 2024. Routes 1&9, 27, and 35 pass through, and Rahway station serves the Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast lines.
Tropical Storm Floyd in 1999 caused over $1 million in flood damage to the old public library, which the city replaced in 2004 with a building in a less flood-prone spot. Irene hit the river again in 2011, and the Army Corps is studying flood control focused on Rahway and Cranford. We buy flood-affected Rahway homes for cash.
Since the late 1990s, downtown Rahway has added market-rate housing, the restored Union County Performing Arts Center, and the Watt Hotel across from the station, and the American Planning Association named it a Great Downtown in 2020. Newer buildings sit near much older houses. If yours is one of the older ones that needs work, we buy it as-is.
In the 18th century, Rahway was made up of Upper Rahway, Bridge Town, Leesville, and Milton, and the Merchants and Drovers Tavern dates to 1795. Today's localities include Inman Heights and North Rahway. Older houses can carry deferred maintenance and estate complications. We buy them for cash, clean-out included.

In New Jersey, an inherited house is sold through the estate, so the executor or court-appointed administrator signs the sale. We talk with each heir separately and privately, so no one has to negotiate as a group, and we'll walk you through getting an administrator appointed if that hasn't happened yet.
Thirty days is typical, and clean files can move faster. If you need more time, we'll write the date you want into the contract.
