Frenchtown, Hunterdon County
Frenchtown is a river borough of about 1.2 square miles on the Delaware, across from Uhlerstown in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Inland it borders Alexandria and Kingwood townships. The free Uhlerstown–Frenchtown Bridge links the two states, and the Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park trail runs along the river through town. About 400 buildings contribute to the Frenchtown Historic District, and the borough had 1,370 residents in the 2020 census.
Hurricane Diane in 1955 sent the Delaware into Frenchtown's streets, buildings, and homes, and streets have flooded on occasion in later storms. River-adjacent houses can carry flood-zone ratings that raise insurance costs and lender requirements. We buy for cash, so a buyer's flood policy is never a condition of the sale.
Listed in 1994, the district covers 100 acres with 401 contributing buildings, including the 1832 Greek Revival Frenchtown Inn and the 1879 Oddfellows Building. If your older house in the district needs work, we buy it as-is and leave the restoration decisions to us.
Laid out in 1757 as Alexandria and nicknamed for its French-speaking settlers, Frenchtown split from Alexandria Township in 1867 and grew after the Belvidere Delaware Railroad arrived in 1853. The old station is now a cafe. If you inherited a house here, we buy it with the contents and close when the estate is ready.

Questions from Frenchtown sellers
Yes. We buy houses with flood history, including ones that still need repairs, for cash and in their current condition.
Neither. Frenchtown is its own borough, formed from Alexandria Township in 1867 and enlarged with Kingwood land in 1876. We buy in the borough and in both neighboring townships.
In New Jersey, an inherited house is sold through the estate, so the executor or court-appointed administrator signs the sale. We talk with each heir separately and privately, so no one has to negotiate as a group, and we'll walk you through getting an administrator appointed if that hasn't happened yet.
Thirty days is typical, and clean files can move faster. If you need more time, we'll write the date you want into the contract.
