Far Hills, Somerset County
Far Hills is a small borough of about 4.9 square miles in the Somerset Hills, bordered by Bedminster, Bernards Township, Bernardsville, and Peapack-Gladstone. U.S. Route 202 passes through, I-287 is the main highway nearby, and Far Hills station sits on NJ Transit's Gladstone Branch. The borough has fewer than a thousand residents, and its 10-acre minimum zoning keeps large private properties around a small village; the 2010 census counted about 420 housing units.
Far Hills uses 10-acre minimum zoning to preserve its large private properties, which is why the borough had only about 418 housing units in 2010. Big estate-style homes can take a long time to sell because the pool of buyers is small. We look at large and unusual properties individually and can make a cash offer without waiting on a jumbo-loan approval.
The Highlands Council places all of Far Hills, about 3,150 acres, in the Highlands Planning Area, and the borough has not yet completed the work to conform with the Regional Master Plan. Buyers who plan new building often want to understand those rules before they commit. We buy Far Hills homes as they are, without tying the sale to future plans for the land.
The Far Hills Race Meeting holds steeplechase races each October. The borough grew from land developer Evander Schley's purchases in the 1880s, and the name reportedly came from Elizabeth Schley's remark about the view in 1887. Older estate houses can carry deferred maintenance. If you have inherited one, we buy it as-is and you can leave the contents behind.

Yes. We buy as-is, so you don't need to renovate, repair, or clear out the house first.
In New Jersey, an inherited house is sold through the estate, so the executor or court-appointed administrator signs the sale. We talk with each heir separately and privately, so no one has to negotiate as a group, and we'll walk you through getting an administrator appointed if that hasn't happened yet.
Thirty days is typical, and clean files can move faster. If you need more time, we'll write the date you want into the contract.
