Commercial, Cumberland County
Commercial Township sits on the Delaware Bay at the mouth of the Maurice River, bordered by Downe Township, Maurice River Township, and Millville. Its villages include Port Norris, Bivalve, Shell Pile, Haleyville, Mauricetown, and the Laurel Lake area, with County Route 553 as the main road. The township was named for its shellfish industry, and much of its housing reflects that past: river-captain Victorians in Mauricetown, village homes in Port Norris and Haleyville, and houses in the Laurel Lake area, the township's largest community.
Port Norris was once called the oyster capital of the world, and at its peak about ninety rail cars a week shipped oysters from Bivalve. MSX disease reached the bay in 1957 and killed most of the oyster beds within two years. Many village homes date from those boom years and show their age. We buy older Port Norris houses without asking for repairs.
Mauricetown began in the 1730s as Mattox Landing and became home to many sea captains and oyster families. Its painted Victorian homes are older, often with original framing, porches, and systems that need upkeep. Inspections on homes like these can turn up long repair lists. We buy Mauricetown houses as they are.
Much of the township lies along the Maurice River marshes and the Delaware Bay shoreline at Bivalve and Shell Pile. The Bayshore Center has restored the old waterfronts at Bivalve and Shell Pile. Low-lying homes near the water can bring flood-insurance questions that slow down financed buyers. A cash sale does not depend on a lender's flood review, so we can close on your timeline.

No. You can take what you want and leave the rest. We handle the clean-out after closing.
In New Jersey, an inherited house is sold through the estate, so the executor or court-appointed administrator signs the sale. We talk with each heir separately and privately, so no one has to negotiate as a group, and we'll walk you through getting an administrator appointed if that hasn't happened yet.
Thirty days is typical, and clean files can move faster. If you need more time, we'll write the date you want into the contract.
